The Bhartiya Janta Party was  never a party that I trusted,  but the leader I did.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee reminded me of stories we have read about Sardar Patel.  Our generation has  been extremely lucky to have leader amongst politicians. We know that politicians manipulate, buy and sell and divide up people on the lines of religion, caste and language. Probably even Vajpayee did, but he had a vision - He had a vision for this nation. He knew if he could join all parts of the country with roads, the separatist emotions will weaken. He knew that if he joined all the rivers, the probability of simultaneous droughts and floods will come down. And he worked upon it.

This post today, is an obituary to this legend’s  political party - the Bhartiya Janta Party.

Today, as he lies on his bed -old,  ill and weak, Vajpayee must be repenting his decision to stay with BJP even after Indira’s era was over. He must be wondering why he chose Mr Advani as No 2 - who can neither keep his people together, let alone the allies.   The so called leaders of the BJP are silent on what is going on … this is typical scenario where a snake is eating its tail to keep itself alive , and does not know of the outcome.

Here are some recommendations for the Party, if they still want to regain the lost ground -

  • Announce a Shadow Cabinet.  Tell the people that your focus is the country, and not bringing the government down at any cost.
  • Announce an Agenda of what their priorities are right now for this country
  • Stop thinking about the poll debacle - it is gone and done.
  • Ask RSS to shut up when it comes to party affairs.

In short it is time to do something constructive - replicate the progress of Gujrat in M.P, Chhatisgarh , Karnataka etc. Go back to the people with your work after five years, and not your promises. The congress will definitely have work to show in 2014, make sure you too do.  If  this is not done there is only one political “bhavishyawani” for BJP- its days are over.

If you wont do this  - soon we are going to see the emergence of a BJP-Secular or BJP-Atalwadi, which would have members like Jaswant Singh and Vasundhra.  Wake up BJP, wake up.
